Festival Hours
The Straffordville Watermelon Festival will be open to the public on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10am–5pm.
Setup and Teardown
Setup: Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM
Teardown: Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
All food vendors must be fully set up by 9:30 AM and remain open until at least 5:00 PM.
Health Department Compliance
All food vendors must comply with Southwestern Public Health regulations. This includes:
- Completing the Special Event Food Vendor application form
- Having at least one certified food handler present at all times
- Proper hand washing facilities
- Proper food storage and temperature control
- Proper waste disposal
Health inspectors may visit during the festival to ensure compliance.
Insurance Requirements
All food vendors must carry a minimum of $2,000,000 in liability insurance and provide proof of insurance prior to the event.
Fire Safety
Vendors using propane or other flammable materials must:
- Have a properly rated fire extinguisher readily accessible
- Ensure all equipment is in good working condition
- Follow all provincial fire safety regulations
Booth Guidelines
- Vendors must provide their own tents, tables, chairs, and displays
- All tents must be properly secured with weights (minimum 40 lbs per leg for food tents)
- Vendors are responsible for keeping their area clean
- No smoking in the food service area
- All menus must be clearly displayed with prices
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made before July 15, 2025 will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued after July 15, 2025.
Weather Policy
The Watermelon Festival is rain or shine. In case of severe weather, festival organizers will make decisions regarding delays or closures. No refunds will be issued due to weather.
